The 2007 SEATA Athletic Training Student Symposium will be held Feb. 9-10 at the Crown Plaza Ravinia Hotel in Atlanta, GA.  Ray Castle, PhD, ATC, of Louisiana State University is the Workshop Coordinator.  R.T. Floyd, EdD, ATC, of The University of West Alabama is the Competencies in Athletic Training Director.

Education
Two simultaneous sessions
will be offered, both beginning at 8:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9 and ending at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10.  The sessions are:

  • Session I:  Foundations of Athletic Training Workshop (open to all athletic training students) Session I is separated into two concurrent tracks based upon the student’s level athletic training.  For questions about the Foundations of Athletic Training Workshop, contact: Ray Castle, PhD, ATC  (225) 578-7175 or RCASTL1@lsu.edu

    • Track A - Prevention, Evaluation, and Initial Management of Athletic Injuries (designed for pre-athletic training &  1st year students) Limited to 1st 200 registrants

    • Track B - Therapeutic Exercise, Modalities, and Professional Development (designed for 2nd year athletic training students) Limited to 1st 200 registrants

Research
SEATA is calling for Case Study Abstracts authored by athletic training students.  The student authors of the top four abstracts will be chosen to present.  A faculty or staff person from the institution of the student submitting the abstract must be a co-author.  The author of the abstract will also be asked to prepare a case study manuscript.

Registration
Advance registration for the symposium is $70.  To qualify for the pre-registration price, online registration www.SignUp4.net/Public/ap.aspx?EID=SEAT22E must be submitted by Monday, Jan. 15, 2007.  Please make every effort to register online.  If you choose to send a check or register as a group, please register online and mail a list of the names registered or a copy of your registration confirmation with your check to Jim Mackie, SEATA Treasurer, 12133 Cheyenne Trail, Jacksonville, FL  32223.  Mail-in registration forms at www.seata.org/07atssreg.doc must be postmarked no later than midnight, Wednesday, January 10.   All registrations submitted after this time will be $85.00.  SEATA Refund Policy  SEATA Website Privacy Policy
Attention:  Late registration (online only) has been opened in Track A & B only for the 22nd Annual SEATA Athletic Training Student Symposium, Feb. 9-10, 2007 until midnight Friday, Jan. 19 for a limited number of seats.  Late registration fee of $85.00 is in effect.  If utilizing a check for payment, make sure it is postmarked no later than midnight Friday, Jan. 19.  The Competencies Section is presently at capacity, but we are working to see if there is any way to accommodate a few more students in the room.  Those interested in the Competencies Section should contact R.T. Floyd directly at rtf@uwa.edu.  If these tracks fill via online registration, there will be no onsite registration due to space limitation.
