Brief Biography

Ken Schields is approaching his forty year mark as an athletic trainer. During that time he worked in high school, college and professional sports. He also taught athletic training and sports medicine at the junior college and college level as an adjunct instructor. For the past twenty years he has worked primarily in outpatient rehab with responsibilities including business development, marketing, administration, managed care, patient care and compliance. Ken is a proud member of the Athletic Trainer’s Association of Florida Hall of Fame and is author of the recently published book Unmanaged Care.

Brief Description of Presentation

This presentation looks at the state of the athletic training profession, where it is headed and the responsibility of athletic trainers to affect their future and that of the profession. Strategies for individual action and accountability are addressed.
