Brief Biography of
Speaker
Carl G. Mattacola, PhD,
ATC is the Director of the Division of Athletic
Training and Program Director for the Rehabilitation
Sciences Doctoral Program in the Department of
Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of
Kentucky (UK). He enjoys facilitating graduate
education, having developed the masters’ degree in
athletic training program at UK. He is engaged in
doctoral education serving on the faculty of the
Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program in the
College of Health Sciences while having a joint
appointment in the College of Education mentoring
students in the Exercise Science Doctoral Program.
His research interests involve examining
neuromuscular control of the lower extremity as it
relates to balance and postural sway and the effects
of rehabilitation interventions in clinical
practice.
Brief Description of
Presentation
The presentation will
provide recommendations for rehabilitation of knee
pathology specific to articular cartilage repair.
An overview of the principles of rehabilitation
following articular cartilage repair procedures and
specific rehabilitation guidelines will be presented
based upon our current understanding of the
biological healing response postoperatively.
