Brief Biography of Speaker

Dr. Buckley is the Director of the Graduate Athletic Training program at Georgia Southern University.  Dr. Buckley received his doctorate from Columbia University in Applied Physiology with an emphasis in Biomechanics.  Dr. Buckley is currently involved in multidisciplinary research projects examining a wide range of concussion issues.

Brief Description of Presentation

Almost 60% of High Schools in the United States lack access to a certified Athletic Trainer; therefore coaches are frequently required to recognize and treat athletic injuries.  Concussions are a challenging injury to identify with potentially serious consequences if not recognized in a timely manner.  This presentation will provide a detailed overview of coach’s knowledge, awareness, and misconceptions regarding sports-related concussion.
