Brief Biography of
Speaker
Dr. Bud Cooper is
currently a lecturer in the ATEP at the University
of Georgia. Prior to this post, Cooper was the
Program Coordinator of ATEP at Georgia College &
State University. Dr. Cooper’s research interests
are exploring exertional heat illness and WBGT
influence among football players and has received a
NATAREF grant to examine this relationship among
interscholastic athletes.
Brief Description of
Presentation
This study examined the
effect of commonly administered external ankle joint
support on postural control using the balance error
scoring system (BESS) and the NeuroCom sensory
organization test (SOT). Results of the study
should help the athletic trainer understand the
effects of external ankle support on postural
control as part of a head injury evaluation.
