Agenda
Utilizing value models to demonstrate your worth
Speaker: Linda Mazzoli, ATC
Linda Mazzoli, ATC,
from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a DYNAMIC
speaker and will definitely get you thinking
differently about your worth and value as an
athletic trainer and how to begin to think of
applying a monetary value to what you do. Linda has
made me rethink how I approach stake holders,
parents, administrators and coaches when it comes to
describing what I do and the value (both monetarily
and medically) of what I offer and do daily. Linda
is provocative and has a great speaking style; she
will definitely engage you, challenge you and make
you think!..I promise you will walk away inspired
after listening to her presentation.
How to utilize PR, Marketing and the Media to
highlight your programs effectiveness and value
Speaker: Tony Fitzpatrick, ATC
Tony Fitzpatrick, ATC,
from Timberline High School and the land of the Blue
Turf, Boise, Idaho will talk to you about using
Public Relations and the Media to promote your high
school program. Tony, being true to his Irish
Roots, will give you the tools on how to use what
you have available to sell your program. He will
show you how to use what the NATA and the SSATC have
available for you to use in your athletic training
room when talking to parents, the media,
administrators and the general public. You won’t
have to “re-invent” the wheel when it comes to
promoting yourself, Tony will give you simple ideas
that can help bring recognition to your program and
make stake holders aware of what you do and are
capable of and what your needs are.
How to use data and research to improve or change
your employment situation
Speaker: Mike Carroll, ATC
Mike Carroll, ATC,
hails from the Great Republic of Texas and
Stephenville High School in Stephenville, Texas.
Mike has worked all the different "settings" within
the high school setting and can speak to the value
of each; Everything from Clinical Outreach,
Teacher/Athletic Trainer to now full time athletic
trainer at his high school. Mike will give you
practical information that you can use if you want
to make the "leap" away from clinical outreach to
working solely for the school district. Mike has a
great ability to speak to our needs as a high school
athletic trainer. You will also walk away with some
new "Texas Vocabulary" Mike is entertaining and
funny. Ask him about the difference between "Y'All"
and "All Y'All"
A convincing argument for increasing your staff
using treatment, evaluation and injury data
Speaker: Brian Robinson, ATC
Brian Robinson, ATC,
from Glenbrook South High School in Glenview,
Illinois, is the chair of the NATA Secondary Schools
Athletic Trainers Committee and brings years of
experience and knowledge to the table. Brian is not
only a leader in our profession, but also a strong
and vocal advocate for the high school setting
athletic trainer. It doesn't matter if you are just
starting out as an athletic trainer in the high
school setting, or like me, have been around the
block a few times, Brian will provide you with some
ideas on how to improve your training room. Brian
will show how collecting injury, treatment and
"hallway evaluations" has not only improved his
budget but increased his staff. You will learn how
using your natural “gifts” of care and compassion
can quickly win over administrators and add dollars
to your budget and staff.
Psychosocial dynamics of Secondary School Decision
Makers – Learn how to recognize your school
district’s personality so that you can tailor your
message to their needs.
Speaker: Tanya Dargusch, ATC
Tanya Dargusch, ATC,
from Washington Township High School in Sewell, New
Jersey brings a unique perspective on how to
“interpret” the personalities of your school board
and other educational decision makers. As athletic
trainers, we see first hand and know how to deal and
adapt to the different personalities of our athletes
and coaches, but how often do we stop and think
about how to deal with the people who are often in a
position to make THE decision in regards to
improving our setting? Tanya will give you the
tools to recognize the different identifiers to help
you read the personality of your school board and
how to approach them when it comes time to request
change.
