Annual SEATA Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting

The
2010 SEATA Clinical Symposium and Members Meeting was
held March 18-21 at the
Marriott Bay Point Golf & Spa
Resort
in
Panama City Beach, FL. There were over 220 in
attendance with a out of district attendees from
California, Indiana,
Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio, and South Carolina. There were
26 vendors present including our Corporate Partners:
Bledsoe, Bauerfeind, Gatorade, and Mississippi
Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center.
The meeting began with the
SEATA
sponsored six hour Kinesiotaping
Workshop on
Thursday.
SEATA President MaryBeth Horodyski and the SEATA
Executive Board continued their work to improve the
SEATA organization. They arrived a Wednesday
evening to continue work on SEATA business matters.
The annual meeting was organized by the Research and
Education Committee (co-chaired by Cathy Brown and Mike
Brunet).
Mini-courses and presentations were provided on

Evidence Based Application Guidelines for an Exercise
Program to Address Risk Factors for Patellofemoral Pain
Syndrome,
NCAA’s Injury Surveillance, A Program Update and What It
Means to You,
Athletic Training Burnout,
Managing Prescriptions and Non-Prescription Medication
in the Athletic Training Facility Consensus Statement
Review,
Basics of the Functional Movement Screen, Ankle
Sprains and Pseudo Sprains,
ACL Allografts in Young Athletes,
Transitioning to Physicians' Assistant Role,
Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound,
Foot Posture Biomechanics: MASS Theory,
Improving CPR Quality Through Performance Debriefing and
Real-Time Feedback,
Foot Posture Biomechanics – Orthotics and the MASS
Theory,
SEATA Research Grant Award Winners Oral Report,
Vital Sign Trending,
Crisis Management in Athletic Training,
and
Nutrition and Athletic Performance for Before, During
and After Exercise.
The
Tim Kerin Memorial Awards Luncheon
included
scholarships, awards
and the
2010 SEATA
Hall of
Fame
class.
SEATA Scholarship
recipients were presented followed by
recognition of the numerous
SEATA Award winners as detailed below. SEATA
recognized and inducted Lori Groover and Gary Wilkerson to the
SEATA Hall of Fame
as the 2010 class..
The SEATA Annual Business Meeting including numerous
updates from the SEATA Executive Board and the State
Organizations as well as several informative reports by
numerous SEATA and NATA Committees.
On Saturday night, the Hall of Fame Reception was held
which featured a celebration of the 35th anniversary of
the SEATA Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting.
Presentations were provided by SEATA Hall of
Fame members Gary Wilkerson, R.T. Floyd, David Green,
Doug May, Jay Shoop, Chuck Kimmel and Jim Mackie. These were video taped and
