Annual SEATA Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting
Summary &
Awards Pictures
The
2011 SEATA Clinical Symposium and Members Meeting was
held March 11-13 at the
Grand
Hyatt Buckhead
in
Atlanta, GA.
SEATA
combined its 36th Annual Clinical Symposium and Members
Meeting with the 4th Annual Emory Sports Medicine
Conference. Approximately 462 athletic trainers,
physicians and physical therapists joined together for a
team approach to sports medicine. There were
approximately 460 in
attendance with out of district attendees from Idaho,
Illinois, Indiana,
Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania,
Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia. There were
29 SEATA vendors present including our Corporate Partners:
Bledsoe, Gatorade, and Mississippi Sports Medicine and
Orthopedic Center along with eight Emory vendors.
To quote one attendee
"Not sure who gets the
credit, but it was an excellent SEATA meeting. The idea
to link up with Emory and the amazing collaboration with
them and the amount of material/education they provided
to the conference was unparalleled. This was,
educationally speaking, the most informative AT
conference I have ever attended be it state, regional,
or national. I certainly hope SEATA is able to maintain
that relationship with Emory".
SEATA President MaryBeth Horodyski and the SEATA
Executive Board continued their work to improve the
SEATA organization with meetings Thursday afternoon and
evening.
The annual meeting was organized by the Research and
Education Committee (co-chaired by Cathy Brown and Mike
Brunet) and the Emory Sports Medicine Center (Spero
Karas, MD and Forrest Pecha, ATC).
Mini-courses and presentations were provided on
numerous topics as detailed at
http://www.seata.org/11csmm.htm.
