SEATA Athletic Training Student Symposium Registration Deadline Very Soon

SEATA Provides Funding to Attend Capitol Hill Day

The SEATA Executive Board is in the final stages of taking applications for funding to assist members from each state with travel expenses to attend NATA's 6th Annual Capitol Hill Day on February 23, 2009.  $7,000 has been allocated  for this purpose.  All expenditures must be approved in advance via the application process outline below.

1. Contact your state presidents as they are assisting in the selection process to ensure appropriate representation for contacting the most influential legislators.

2. Download the SEATA Funding Request Form from www.seata.org/SEATACapHillFundReq09.doc, then complete and submit as the form indicates by Jan. 23, 2009.

3. As part of the SEATA approval process, all applicants will need to register online by Jan. 30 via the NATA Capitol Hill Day registration form at www.nata.org/2009febevents/.

4. Application does not insure approval.  Please wait for approval from SEATA President MaryBeth Horodyski before committing to expenditures you are not prepared to pay yourself.

5. Expenses will be reimbursed as per the process detailed on the form upon submission of the required documentation.

There will be a “Lobbying Is Not A Four Letter Word" (Legislative Briefing), 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22 and a last minute briefing from 7 to 8 A.M., Monday, Feb. 23.

NATA will coordinate Congressional appointments for you and others from your state.

Collegiate Sports Medicine Foundation Student Leadership Workshop

The Collegiate Sports Medicine Foundation will be hosting the 3rd Annual Athletic Training Student Leadership Workshop.  This workshop is by invitation, of which two (2) students from each NATA district will be selected and provided a scholarship to attend.  Scholarship includes air fare, hotels and meals.  The meeting will focus on leadership qualities, past, present and future of the athletic training professionals, graduate school preparation, job opportunities,  research and organizational skills for a leader in the health care field.  Faculty will consist of present and past NATA leaders in an open format to provide students with an opportunity to connect with those individuals that have shaped the profession of athletic training.  Program supported by Cramer Products, Inc.  Application Deadline: Jan. 31, 2009.

CUATC Encourages Nominations

The College and University Athletic Trainers' Committee is now encouraging nominations for the following national committee awards.

• Head Athletic Trainer - NCAA Division 1

• Head Athletic Trainer - NCAA Division 2

• Head Athletic Trainer - NCAA Division 3

• Head Athletic Trainer - NAIA

• Head Athletic Trainer - Junior College/Community College

• Assistant Athletic Trainer of Year – (sole winner can come from within any collegiate division)

• Above and Beyond Award - (sole winner can come from within any collegiate division)

• New Horizon Award - (sole winner can come from within any collegiate division)

Jack Cramer Scholarship

The 2009 Jack Cramer Scholarship application is now available at www.fcps.edu/supt/activities/atp/cs_nata/cs_nata2009.htm. Please encourage any interested high school students to apply.  In conjunction with the NATA's Secondary School Athletic Trainers Committee, one two thousand dollar ($2000) scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving high school senior who is planning to embark on a career as a certified athletic trainer in a high school setting.  The award will be paid directly to the institution that provides an approved curriculum that enables the candidate to sit for the Board of Certification examination.  Please follow the instructions carefully. The Jack Cramer Scholarship application is an on-line process with multiple components.  Completed applications with letter of recommendation MUST be received by April 1, 2009.
