Bobby Gunn Student Leadership Award

Bobby GunnIn 2007 NATA has established the Bobby Gunn Student Leadership Award to recognize one of the true pioneers in athletic training -- and to give deserving students assistance in attending NATA’s Annual Meeting.  The award is available to be undergraduate or entry-level master's students who are members of NATA and have never attended an NATA Annual Meeting before.  NATA hopes to award one student per district (depending on deserving entrants) which will consist  of a $500 travel stipend to the NATA Annual Meeting in St. Louis, MO.  This stipend will be applied toward hotel and transportation.  NATA will waive the convention registration fee for each of the winners.  Click HERE for complete info & application form.

Several SEATA members to be named FNATA

The inaugural year of the NATA Fellows Program will see several SEATA members receive this distinction.  The program was established to recognize professional achievement in research and/or education, combined with service to the profession.  Only the most accomplished athletic trainers earn this distinction and are allowed to use the prestigious designation of “FNATA.”  NATA Fellows pledge their continued commitment to the athletic training profession and the NATA.  A total of eighteen new NATA Fellows will be recognized at the Annual Meeting in St. Louis with the following six being from District IX.  Congratulations!

  • Mike Ferrara, PhD, ATC

  • Jenny Hootman, PhD, ATC, FACSM

  • Doug Kleiner, PhD, ATC, CSCS
