SEATA Special Election for Vice President Begins Today

The following have indicated their desire seek office with SEATA.  Please read the following biographies at www.seata.org/elec10s.htm beginning today and then go to the provided link to vote.  Select one candidate for Vice President and submit your online vote no later than 11:59 P.M. EDT Thursday, September 2, 2010.  Submitted electronic ballots are confidential and go to the SEATA Elections Accountant, Jennifer Armstrong, CPA at the accounting firm of Gainspoletti & Associates for validation and tabulation.

Plan now for 2011 SEATA Meetings in Atlanta

The 36th Annual SEATA Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting is scheduled for March 10-13, 2011 at the  Grand Hyatt Buckhead in Atlanta, GA.    The Grand Hyatt is surrounded by the “Beverly Hills of the South”, area attractions, including the World of Coca-Cola Museum, the Georgia Aquarium, and luxury shopping at Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza are easily accessible using convenient MARTA transportation.  We look forward to you joining us for a great meeting with a different format.  Look for more details in future eBlasts and on the SEATA website.
 

 

The 26th Annual SEATA Athletic Training Student Symposium will be held Feb. 3-5, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia, Atlanta, GA   The symposium will continue to offer the "Foundations in Athletic Training" section, with two specific “educational tracks”. for underclassmen and the senior level workshop “Competencies in Athletic Training”, for those students entering the final stages of preparation for the BOC certification examination.  Look for more information on the 2011 symposium in the near future at www.seata.org  

 

SEATA Call for Presentation Proposals - 36th Annual Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting

The SEATA Research and Education Committee is now accepting proposals for presentations at the 2011 SEATA Clinical Symposium and Members Meeting.  The Research and Education Committee helps develop continuing education programming for the meeting, and incorporates proposals as well as committee-planned programming.  Qualified speakers may receive a registration fee waiver and a small stipend.  Proposals must be submitted to Cathy Brown PhD, ATC at browncn@uga.edu by November 1, 2010.  See www.seata.org/SEATACallforProposals11.pdf.

SEATA Call for AbstractsThe SEATA Research and Education Committee is issuing a Call for Abstracts for the SEATA Research Seminar at the 36th Annual SEATA Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting, March 10-13, 2011 as detailed at  at www.seata.org/SEATACallforAbstracts11.pdf.  Abstracts must be submitted to Cathy Brown PhD, ATC at browncn@uga.edu by January 7, 2011.  An example Abstract may be found at www.seata.org/Abstract2011Example.pdf.

  1. Reminder to all Colleges and University Athletic Trainers that the Appropriate Medical Coverage for Intercollegiate Athletics (AMCIA) document is available on NATA.org.  Please let me know if you need any assistance in utilizing this document, have feedback or suggestions.
  2. The NCAA hosted a webinar on July 16 that discussed medical management guidelines for concussions. It was recorded and is available for those that missed it.  This was a great educational opportunity and I would encourage all to review it.
  3. August is a time to review your state practice acts and make sure all of your ATC's are in line with state guidelines, and that your program is as well.
  4. NCAA is working on a Best Practices for Drug Testing - look for it soon.

ATAF Elections & License Renewal

ATAF Elections Coming SoonAthletic Trainers' Association of Florida
We will begin accepting nominations for Central Florida Rep, South 1 Rep, and West Coast Rep on Monday, Aug. 16th.  The criteria for serving as a representative as well as a nomination link can be found by visiting the ATAF website at www.ataf.org.  Please take a few minutes to nominate a worthy candidate.

Florida License Renewal
Florida Department of Health licenses expire Thursday, September 30, 2010.  All licensed athletic trainers with correct address information on file with the DOH received renewal reminders.  If you did not receive your reminder or need additional information please go to www.FLHealthsource.com or visit www.myflorida.gov.  Please remember that there is no grace period for license renewal.
