Nominations Close Friday for SEATA Secretary Special Election

Due to the recent passing of Lori Groover, the SEATA Executive Board has declared the Office of SEATA Secretary to be vacant.  The By-Laws require a special election to be completed within 60 days to fill a vacant office on the Executive Board.  Due to this time limitation, the Elections Committee will conduct this special election as follows:

Nominations are now open and will remain so until
midnight CDT, Friday, August 28, 2009.  Certified Athletic Trainer and Certified – Retired members of SEATA may propose nominations.  Nominations are to be made in writing to the SEATA Elections Committee Chair at the address below.   Ballots will be distributed to the membership by mail and/or applicable computer technology by September 1, 2009.  Voting shall be completed by midnight CDT, September 15, 2009 and election results will be announced as soon as the results are validated. (Should a run-off election be needed, the candidates will be announced by September 18 with ballots going out the same day and being due by midnight CDT, September 25.) The winner of this election will take office immediately upon the validation of the election results and will serve until this term ends in June 2010 at the NATA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA.  Election shall be by a majority popular vote.

Please note that this special election is completely independent of the current regular SEATA election for Vice-President and Secretary.  Should the winner of this special election be a candidate for Secretary in the SEATA regular election and win that election as well, he/she, in accordance with the By-Laws, would be eligible to serve two full 3-year terms beginning in June 2010.

Request for photos, letters, or stories about Lori Groover

SEATA members are requested to send any photos, letters, or funny stories about Lori to Donna Wesley who will compile a book for Lori's family.  Following Lori's funeral her parents had guests to write a "Lori story" in a book and we want to give members that were unable to attend the opportunity to submit their memories.  Members can either email or mail these to Donna Wesley at dwesleyatc@yahoo.com or at 414 Oak Road, Fulton, MS  38843
