SEATA Scholarship Deadline Approaches
2007 SEATA Undergraduate Scholarship RecipientsThe deadline to apply for ten SEATA scholarships is fast approaching.  Four undergraduate and three graduate scholarships are available to full time students pursuing a degree in athletic training.  Three family scholarships are available to District IX members who presently have a dependent enrolled as a junior or senior in an accredited college or university.  Go to www.seata.org/Scholarshipdetails.htm for complete details and the online application materials.  
   

Only 14 Days left to Nominate for SEATA Awards
Do you know an individual who should be recognized for their outstanding contribution to the profession as a SEATA member?  If so, take a few moments to nominate them via www.seata.org/Awards.htm before the SEATA Honors and Awards nomination period closes on Jan. 1, 2008 

 
   

Earlier Annual SEATA Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting requires earlier Registration

The 33rd Annual SEATA Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting will be at the earliest date it has ever been - Feb. 28 - March 2 at the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs in Franklin, TN.  Don't forget to register by the earlier deadlines of Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 for online via www.signup4.net/Public/ap.aspx?EID=SEAT28E or postmarked via www.seata.org/08csmmsreg.doc before midnight,2007 Annual Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting Participants Friday, Feb. 8, 2008.

Abstracts for the SEATA Research Seminar at the 33rd Annual SEATA Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting as detailed at SEATA Research and Education Committee Call for Abstracts 33rd Annual Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting  must be submitted to Carl G. 2nd Biennial SEATA Athletic Training Educators' Conference

Registration for the 2nd Biennial SEATA Athletic Training Educators’ Conference on Feb. 8-9, 2008 at the Crown Plaza Ravinia Hotel in Atlanta, GA will be available online via www.signup4.net/public/ap.aspx?EID=SEAT25E through Friday, January 25, 2008.  After this date, registration (if space is available) will be on-site only at the higher rate.

Rooms at the Crown Plaza Ravinia must be reserved by January 16, 2008 to ensure the $102 room rate.  Make your reservations online at Connections or for more information call Connections at (404) 842-0000 or 1-800-262-9974.

  
   

SEATA Athletic Training Student Symposium Filling Up
Registration for the 23rd Annual SEATA Athletic Training Student Symposium on Feb. 8-9, 2008 at the Crown Plaza Ravinia Hotel in Atlanta, GA is quickly filling up.  Online registration  via www.signup4.net/public/ap.aspx?EID=SEAT26E at $70.00 closes Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 or postmarked via www.seata.org/08atssreg.doc before midnight, Friday, January 18.  Registration, if space is available, after this date is $85.

SEATA establishes Young Professionals Committee
The SEATA Executive Board has approved developing a Young Professionals Committee in District IX to work in collaboration with the newly established NATA Young Professionals Committee.  A Young Professionalssearch for representatives from each state is underway.  Anyone interested in serving in this capacity should contact his/her state president and complete a SEATA Committee Candidate Nomination Form.  The committee will be chaired by the District IX Chair for the NATA Young Professionals Committee.  Those who may be interested in serving as chair should contact R.T. Floyd at rtf@uwa.edu as soon as possible.  Committee member and chair eligibility requirements include being a certified member in SEATA and be under age 30 on July 1, 2008.  As the committee is developed and members are appointed additional information will be posted to the Young Professionals Committee web page.

SEATA to develop Student Senate Committee

SEATA Students at 2007 Athletic Training Student SymposiumThe SEATA Executive Board has approved developing a SEATA Student Senate Committee to work in collaboration with the new NATA National Athletic Training Student Committee which is currently being formed.  The development of this new SEATA committee will be guided by the members of the District IX EC College/University Athletic Training Students' Committee.  To be eligible for the SEATA Student Senate Committee candidates must be non-certified members of SEATA and be sophomores or juniors on July 1 in the year of appointment OR have completed at least 60 credits towards a bachelors or entry level masters degree.  As the committee is developed and members are appointed further  information will be posted to the SEATA Student Senate Committee web page.  
   

TATS Annual Meeting on Jan. 11-13

Tennessee Athletic Trainers' SocietyThe 2008 TATS Annual Meeting is set!  Mark your calendar for January 11-13, 2008.  Our Annual Meeting and Symposium will be held in Nashville at the Airport Marriott.  Go to http://cwp.marriott.com/bnatn/tnathletictrainers/ for more information.  
   

"Beyond the Call" Florida Southern College Conference

Florida Southern College Sports Medicine Society is hosting a conference entitled "Beyond the Call".  Former NATA Presidents, Bobby Barton and Mark Smaha for the first time publicly are discussing their involvement with the aftermath of the Marshall Football Team plane crash.  The movie "We are Marshall" is based on this tragedy.  The conference will include a hands on section for High School Students and an additional education session for college athletic training students and certified athletic trainers.  The conference is being held Sunday, January 27, 2007 from 1-6 pm on the Florida Southern College Campus.  A speaker reception will follow the conference.  For more information, please call Sue Stanley-Green at 863-680-4262 or e-mail at sstanleygreen@flsouthern.edu.
