NATA and SEATA encourage their members to refer to
themselves as "certified athletic trainers" or " ATCs" or
"athletic trainers". Don't call yourself simply "trainer" --
that term does nothing to help the public's perception of
the profession.
We should ALWAYS refer to ourselves as
certified athletic trainers who practice the profession
of athletic training and, in most cases, work in an
athletic training room or athletic training
facility. Additionally, some of us are fortunate enough
to be involved in the supervision and education of
athletic training students. Please let the NATA office
know of cases where the media may refer to us or our
profession inaccurately. The NATA staff is prepared to take
steps to educate the media to reduce and prevent further
such occurrences.
Thank you. |
