The Southeast Athletic Trainers’ Association will host the 33rd Annual SEATA Athletic Training Student Symposium February 1st – 3rd, 2018 at the Crown Plaza Ravinia Hotel in Atlanta, GA. Patricia M. Tripp, PhD, ATC, of the University of Florida and Karen Lew Feirman, DHSc, ATC of the University of West Florida Co-Coordinate the Foundations section (Tracks A & B); R.T. Floyd, EdD, ATC, of The University of West Alabama directs the Competencies in Athletic Training section.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 1st and concluding by 1pm Saturday, February 3rd students may participate in one of three educational tracks:
Research - Submissions accepted beginning Oct. 16
Attention Athletic Training students! Please consider submitting a unique case or original research abstract for presentation at the SEATA ATSS in February! For both categories of submission, the lead author must be an athletic training student.
The lead author may select the presentation category for which he/she prefers to disseminate the information; presentation format selection occurs at time of abstract submission and includes:
After a blind review by the research review team, authors of selected abstracts will receive an email invitation to present either a poster or oral presentation (as indicated at time of submission by the lead author) during the SEATA ATSS meeting. Please note, an accepted abstract is not an “invited presentation” – the presenting author assumes all financial obligations associated with travel, lodging, printing, etc. incurred as part of the presentation. Authors may decline presentation or withdraw his/her abstract from consideration – please contact the research coordinator Ms. Karen S. Stanton (email@example.com) no later than December 1st if you wish to withdraw the abstract from review. Notification of acceptance occurs via email on or before December 15th. Students (e.g., lead author) must respond to Ms. Karen S. Stanton via email on or before December 31st to accept or decline presentation. Failure to confirm acceptance via email by the December 31st deadline will forfeit presentation at the SEATA ATSS.
Students presenting at the SEATA ATASS must submit the final version (if different than submission version) of the accepted abstract to Dr. Patricia Tripp (firstname.lastname@example.org) in .doc or .docx format no later than January 1st to include the abstract in the symposium proceedings. The conference coordinators will not accept edits or modifications to abstracts after January 1st.
Oral Presentation: Students opting to present his/her abstract via an oral presentation will receive detailed instructions as part of the notification of acceptance email. General guidelines include: students will prepare a 10-12 minute presentation (with 3 minutes for questions) in a PowerPoint or Prezi format, clear/legible font style and size, images and/or videos to convey information, etc. Students should practice the presentation to ensure pace meets the allotted time.
Poster Presentation: Students opting to present his/her abstract via poster presentation will receive detailed instructions as part of the notification of acceptance email. General guidelines include: students should consult faculty co-authors for recommended formats for posters (dimensions should not exceed 48 inches x 72 inches) and authors should bring tacks or Velcro to adhere posters to the display board. The SEATA ATSS research committee will assign poster locations. Students should identify the board number matches his/her assigned location prior to hanging the poster.

***All SEATA ATSS abstract submissions require a $5 submission fee AND symposium registration***

Regardless of payment option or Group payment, ALL students must complete the online registration on or before January 19th, 2018 (if space if available).

SEATA/NATA Foundation Quiz Bowl - Registration opens Oct. 16
The Quiz Bowl Committee will host the 10th Annual SEATA/NATA Foundation Quiz Bowl at 7:30 P.M., Feb. 2, 2018 in conjunction with the 33rd Annual Athletic Training Student Symposium at the Crown Plaza Ravinia Hotel in Atlanta, GA. For additional information regarding team registration, deadlines and instructions during the event, please CLICK HERE. The winning team (from District 9) will represent the District at the NATA/NATA Foundation Quiz Bowl in New Orleans, LA; participants and coaches are advised to be familiar with the SEATA/NATA Foundation Quiz Bowl Policies and Procedures Manual.
