SCHOLARSHIPS

All applications by the student must be submitted by September 15th at 11:59 pm CST.

 

Recognition Awards Timeline (all deadlines are 11:59 pm CST)

  • August 1 – September 15: Application Period 

  • September 15 – October 15: Submission Period for any supporting materials from your sponsors and character references.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • October 15 – November 15 Committee Review Period

  • December 2 – 15 – Notification of Scholarship Recipients

 

Eligibility/Qualifications
If you are a NATA student member (undergraduate or graduate) pursuing a degree in athletic training or an affiliated degree, you may be eligible to apply for a scholarship ranging from $500 to $2,000. Students are encouraged to apply for multiple scholarships as they may qualify; however, candidates may only be awarded one SEATA-designated scholarship per academic year. SEATA scholarship candidates must meet the following general eligibility requirements (unless otherwise stipulated):

• Be a current NATA member who resides within SEATA / District 9 of the NATA.
• Have at least a "B" average in their overall curriculum.
• Have unmet financial need.
• Be sponsored by a SEATA member in good standing with both the NATA and BOC.
• Have a character reference from a SEATA member who is in good standing with both the NATA and BOC.
• Applicants, AT Sponsor, and AT Character Reference MUST each have an NPI number.
• Scholarship awards will apply to the current academic year (Spring term).

SEATA Family Scholarship ($500 each, 3 total)

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Be a full-time student enrolled in any degree program (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral) at an accredited college/university.

  2. Have a parent/guardian who is, and has been, a member of SEATA in good standing with the BOC for at least five years preceding the application date.

 

 

 

 

SEATA Memorial Professional Scholarship ($1,000)

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Meet general eligibility requirements.

  2. Be enrolled in a CAATE-accredited Professional Program.

 

 

 

SEATA Memorial Post-Professional Scholarship ($1,000)

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Meet general eligibility requirements.

  2. Current NATA member in good standing with the BOC and state credentialing authority.

  3. Enrolled in a post-professional athletic training degree program.

 

 

 

Jim Gallaspy Leadership Award ($500)

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Meet general eligibility requirements.

  2. Enrolled in a CAATE-accredited Professional Program.

 

 

 

Jerry Rhea/Atlanta Falcons Scholarships  (2 awards @ $1,000 each)

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Meet general eligibility requirements.

  2. Enrolled in a CAATE-accredited Professional Program.

 

 

 

Arnold T. Bell Memorial EDAC Graduate Scholarship ($2,000)

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Meet general eligibility requirements.

  2. Be an ethnic minority student enrolled in a CAATE-accredited professional or a post-professional graduate athletic training degree program.

  3. NATA student members who do not reside in District 9 but are enrolled in a SEATA academic program are encouraged to apply.

Note: A separate application for this scholarship can be found here. The SEATA Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee determines the recipient.

 

 

 

Bobby Gunn Student Leadership Award 

This scholarship includes up to $1,000 in travel and complimentary NATA Convention registration.  It can be combined with any of the above scholarships.

Instructions:  Student(s) must complete an APPLICATION, which includes biographical information and a one‐page essay.  An essay is to include your involvement in athletic training and a clear understanding of Bobby Gunn’s impact on the athletic training profession.  (For more on Bobby Gunn, see the April 2007 edition of the NATA News, available online at www.nata.org in the members‐only section.)  Return application to Student Leadership Committee Faculty Advisor slc@seata.org.  All entries MUST be received by 11:59 pm CST, February 1st to be considered.

The Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association (SEATA) is District 9 of the National Athletic Trainers' Association.  It is a not-for-profit organization dealing with the concerns of its members and the profession of athletic training as a whole.  This association was first started back in 1950.  Initially comprised of the members of the Southeastern Conference schools, this district is represented by Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
